Marywood Art Therapy Faculty Member Receives National Creative Practice Award

Published News Story

Abigail Oxford, MA, ATR-BC, LPC, a Marywood University art therapy faculty member, has received the 2026 Outstanding Applied Creative Practice Award from the American Art Therapy Association (AATA).

Inspired by the life and work of Dr. Lani Gerity Glanville, an art therapist, artist, author, and puppet maker, the award recognizes art therapists who make significant creative contributions to the profession through their work as active artists.

Oxford is a three-dimensional artist, art therapist, and educator who uses electroforming to transform found natural objects into handcrafted jewelry and keepsakes. Her work explores the beauty of imperfections and the stories behind individual pieces.

In addition to exhibiting her work in galleries, Oxford presents locally, regionally, and nationally on her artistic practice and creative process. The award recognizes the intersection of her artistic work and contributions to the field of art therapy.
