Apply for a Work Study Position

Placements for Federal Work Study jobs are through Human Resources.

Federal Work Study Students are paid bi-weekly. You will be responsible for tracking your hours and obtaining your supervisor’s signature on the student electronic timesheet. You will also find a Student Employment Information Sheet that you should review. It contains important information including due dates for submission of completed bi-weekly electronic timesheets and pay dates.

  1. You need to complete the Student Employment Interest Form. You can indicate up to three posted jobs for which you would like to be interviewed.
  2. Financial Aid will confirm your eligibility for Work Study and notify you via email.
  3. Once you have been notified by Financial Aid for your eligibility, you are responsible for contacting the departments and scheduling an interview. Interviews may take place over the summer, and may be done in person, or remotely, at the department’s discretion.
  4. Department(s) will notify you and Human Resources if you have been selected for a position.
  5. Once hired, Human Resources will email you.  If you are a new employee, you will be sent new hire paperwork to be completed and returned to HR. If you are a returning employee, you will receive a Frevo contract to be completed. You may do this once you are notified that you have been hired, or when you arrive for the fall semester, but before your first day of work. You cannot begin work until all required paperwork is completed and submitted to Human Resources.
  6. The required paperwork that you will need to complete includes Federal Form I-9 for identification and Form W-4 for federal tax purposes. You are required to bring your original forms of identification with you, copies cannot be accepted. You will need to know your security number, and for direct deposit you will need to provide a voided check or your account and routing number. Here is a list of acceptable documents you may provide to Human Resources.

Work Study

This position serves as an integral part of the Alumni Engagement Office and the Development Office and will help you develop job skills and relationships that will guide you beyond the classroom setting and into your future career.

Art Galleries Assistants will assist with the daily responsibilities associated with running multiple exhibition spaces throughout the Insalaco Studio Art Center. Multiple positions available with flexible Monday through Saturday scheduling morning through early evening.

Employees will work with existing graphic standards and be involved with creating additional departmental materials. The work-study assistant will be primarily responsible for the maintenance, setup, and operation of photography equipment and darkrooms. Additionally, the assistant will mix photo chemicals, ensure a clean darkroom environment, hang artwork on bulletin boards, and help with art show installations and de-installations. The assistant will also research calls for entry and hang fliers to encourage student submissions, while providing various other support services to the art department. Some general office tasks may be needed such as filing, copying, and organizing supplies. Strong organizational and time management skills a plus, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career in photography or the arts. If you are a hardworking and detail-oriented individual, we encourage you to apply.

The printmaking work study student will assist in maintaining the studio by helping organize tools and materials for screen printing, letterpress, papermaking and other printmaking processes. The position will help with setup and clean up. Hours are flexible. Student must work well independently

Sculpture Studio Assistant(s) will aide in all aspects of the daily life of the Art Department Sculpture Studio. Working with the Sculpture Studio Technician, students will help to stage materials, prep for classes, and maintain the Sculpture areas as needed. Seeking a Marywood student to assist the Art Dept with general support and weekly WordPress blog post editing and scheduling to support the blog’s faculty Editor-in-Chief. This is a great chance to gain experience in WordPress management, content editing, social media scheduling, designing in Photoshop/Illustrator, and more.

Typical duties include:

  • Building a blogging calendar for 2024/2025 and tracking posts weekly
  • Working independently in WordPress
  • Reviewing, editing, and scheduling posts weekly on Sunday and Monday
  • Validating each post has accurate categories, tags, and featured images
  • Notifying the Editor-in-Chief weekly if any bloggers missed their deadlines
  • Writing custom social media posts to accompany each blog post
  • Assisting with finding new bloggers when roles open
  • Additional art department related tasks such as designing posters and flyers in Illustrator or Photoshop, getting flyers stamped and hanging them on campus, assisting with gallery installations and takedowns, attending special events, general office assistance, etc.

Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, such as Education, Special Education, Social Recreation, Arts & Crafts, and Physical Education.

  • Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times.  Prepare periodic activity reports.

The Community Service Student Assistant would work within the Office of Community Service & Social Justice to help promote and coordinate volunteer and service projects on campus and in the community.         The S.T.A.R.S Student Coordinator (work study), under the supervision of STARS Program Director and Curriculum Coordinator will perform a wide variety of tasks, for the implementation and coordination of the Student Together Achieving Remarkable Success
        (STARS) program. He/She/They will work 8-12 hours per week on Mission Services programming and after school mentoring programming. Their time will be split between Marywood University campus (Swartz Center), and a nearby off-campus location for after-school programming that enriches the educational experience of local elementary, middle and high school youth. The student coordinator will help develop and execute innovative programming and events that focus on career exploration, civic engagement, service learning, and life skills enhancement. The goal is to optimize interpersonal skills and academic performance among the youth served and facilitate trustworthy connections between college and graduate student mentor volunteers and youth participants. Tasks will include researching multicultural individualized and group activities that focus on creativity, financial literacy, critical thinking, self-awareness, communication, culture, empathy, and local history and heritage. Likewise, the S.T.A.R.S student coordinator, alongside the S.T.A.R.S program Director and Curriculum Coordinator, will be planning, facilitating and leading youth and parent workshops, on a variety of educational topics. This position requires an understanding of, and willingness to operationalize Marywood's mission and core values. The ideal candidate is someone who likes working with youth and is independent and has a self-propelling interest in community grassroots and service-oriented work. Being bilingual in Spanish and English is certainly a plus but not a requirement.

        The S.T.A.R.S. (Students Together Achieving Remarkable Success) program offers youth of all backgrounds in 5th-12th grades, and, more recently, 3rd-4th grades, the opportunity to explore their long-term career goals through one-on-one academic assistance and exposure to a variety of post-secondary educational paths, trades, and careers.

        PRIMARY FUNCTION:

        STARS Mentors/Tutors (Work-Study) will work one on one or in small group settings with elementary, middle and/or high school students on activities related to career exploration, civic engagement, service-learning and Life Skills. They will also offer homework help, academic support, and reading tutoring to students they work with on a weekly basis.

        Assist Digital Output Technician with day to day equipment management (sign outs, sign ins, and inventory). Assist with scheduling rentals of borrowable technology by faculty, staff, and students (cameras, data collection instruments, audio/visual technology, other handheld electronics). Student workers will retrieve and put away pieces of equipment in their proper locations and ensure borrowing records and damage logs are kept. Assist Digital Output Technician/Shop Manager with CNC operations on an as-needed basis (scheduling machine time, material management, and daily workspace cleanup). Student workers will learn the proper use of tooling, selection and setup for each tool, clamping/vacuum table methods, loading and unloading of materials, and other parameters that are needed to ensure the CNC machine functions properly and safely. Student workers will be familiar and able to use all hand tools associated with the process.

        Supervise, operate, and maintain laser cutters and 3D printers in the SOA Digital Fabrication Lab.         The Residence Directors (RDs) are appointed by the Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life.

        General Summary of Duties:

        The Residence Director is a live-in master's or doctoral-level student who is responsible for the operation of one or two residential areas. This position requires the Residence Director to reside in their assigned on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. The Residence Director is charged with shaping the environment and experiences of residential students by providing services and programs focused on Marywood mission and core values. The Residence Director fosters an environment which enhances student intellectual, social, spiritual and personal development; provides educational opportunities and academic support for students. The Residence Director selects, supervises, evaluates and trains RAs; serves as a conduct Hearing Officer in adjudicating policy violations; serves on the University’s on-call rotation; and is expected to respond to emergency situations as needed. The Residence Director also serves as a resource person and as the primary institutional representative responsible for Residence Hall administration according to University philosophy and policy. 

        Essential Functions:

        The Residence Director is responsible for communicating Housing and Residence Life processes, procedures, activities, programs, issues, and concerns between the Housing and Residence Life Office and resident students.

        The Residence Director establishes a rapport with students within their assigned residential area and assists students in the adjustment to university life.

        The Residence Director articulates and implements University and Housing and Residence Life policies and will counsel, advise, and refer students when necessary.

        Serve as a member of the Marywood University Conduct team and serve in roles as assigned.  Understand and support the divisional protocol regarding the Student Code of Conduct.

        The Residence Director will assist with case management of students within their assigned areas providing check-ins and follow-up as needed.

        The Residence Director is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Residence Assistant (RAs) staff and provides ongoing training, supervision, evaluation and discipline for their assigned staff.

        The Residence Director is responsible for efficient openings and closings of a residence hall, check-ins/outs that occur throughout the year, and all administrative duties associated with these processes.

        Plan, implement and participate in Residence Assistant selection, training, supervision and evaluation. The Residence Director will directly supervise Resident Assistants within their assigned areas, and is responsible for scheduling Resident Assistants for duty coverage of their assigned residential area(s) including week days, weekends, and breaks.

        Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful community. Promote a flexible and collaborative work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of people of all backgrounds.

        Assume rotating on-call responsibility as assigned to support Housing and Residence Life.

        Serve on campus committees as appointed.

        Compensation: includes board while classes are in session during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, a furnished apartment, tuition remission (up to 24 credits annually), and a monthly stipend. All other University fees are the responsibility of the Residence Director.         Students sponsored by international dual programs (AASTMT, Zijing, EAN) are not eligible to apply for Academic, Administrative, or Athletic graduate assistantships. 

        Assistantships will be in effect for the 2026-2027 academic year, commencing with the first day of the fall semester and terminating the last day of the spring semester. 

        Students awarded full-time or part-time graduate assistantships will register for and complete a minimum of 6 graduate credits each semester and must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on studentaid.gov. For full-time graduate assistantships, the University will provide tuition remission for 4.5 credits for the fall semester and 4.5 credits of tuition remission for the spring semester. For part-time graduate assistantships, the University will provide tuition remission for 2.25 credits for the fall semester and 2.25 credits of tuition remission for the spring semester. Students with full-time graduate assistantships will work, on average, 12 hours per week, for a maximum of 400 hours per academic year, while students with part-time graduate assistantships will work, on average, 6 hours per week for a maximum of 200 hours per academic year. The tuition remission will not be credited to a student's account without a valid FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office.

        Compensation is paid to students on two-week intervals.

        Graduate assistants are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 each semester. Current graduate students must maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.25 to renew or receive consideration for a new graduate assistantship position.

        If you resign or are terminated from an assistantship prior to the end of your appointment (except in the event of illness or disability resulting in the inability to fulfill the requirements of the assistantship), the following conditions will apply:
        If your resignation or termination becomes effective at the end of the fall semester, you will forfeit tuition remission for the spring semester.
        If your resignation or termination becomes effective at any time prior to the end of your contracted term, your tuition discount will be prorated pursuant to the number of weeks remaining in the semester from the date of resignation or termination, and you will be responsible for repayment of any tuition balance due thereafter. The prorated amount shall be calculated by the Financial Aid Office and must be paid to the Student Accounts Office within 30 days of the adjustment. You will also forfeit the remaining stipend pursuant to the number of weeks remaining in the semester. If you resign from your assistantship, it is strongly recommended that you give a minimum of two weeks notice in writing to your supervisor.

        The Counseling Program Coordinator seeks a highly motivated graduate assistant to support the growth, improvement, and maintenance of an accredited graduate counseling program.         The GA will work closely with the Counseling Program Coordinator and program faculty as needed in delivering the following duties and responsibilities:

        Assist with tasks associated with accreditation requirements include survey development, data collection and analysis, and required program updates (2 hours/week)
        Support program growth, improvement, and maintenance (2 hours/week)

        The Graduate Assistant for Field Education and Outreach supports the School of Social Work’s Field Education program and student success initiatives.         Science, Math, and Computer Science

        Under the supervision of Dr. Kimberly Stanek, the graduate assistant will study a bacterial aminotransferase with known structure but unknown function. This protein will be recombinantly expressed, purified, and characterized through kinetics assays. The student will gain proficiency in several basic biochemical techniques, including cloning and mutagenesis, cell culture, chromatography, and spectrophotometric assays. Additionally, the graduate assistant will aid in the course design of the undergraduate biochemistry laboratory (BIOL 421L), by testing experimental procedures and evaluating or redesigning protocols as needed. Applicants applying for the position should have a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology). The applicant should be a student pursuing a Masters in Biotechnology. Previous experience in undergraduate research, as a laboratory assistant, or work within the biotechnology field is preferred.

        The graduate assistant will take a lead role in recruitment, marketing and assistance in departmental social media presence to support with recruitment efforts to grow enrollment. This includes participating in virtual open houses, development of content, and gathering information regarding website updates. The GA will assist with outcomes data collection, gathering feedback from multiple stakeholders and analysis of data specific to accreditation. Information collected will be used to work with program faculty to update and improve the departments program and continue to produce positive outcomes.         As the primary liaison between the classroom component of the SOAR program, the university, and the NEIU, the SOAR Program Coach will facilitate communication between all stakeholders. The GA will spend most of their time in a mentoring/coaching role with SOAR students. In the classroom, under the direction of the classroom teacher, the GA will assist SOAR students with academic, technology, social skills, and independent living skills. The GA will also support SOAR students "in the field" as they perform their on-campus jobs.         The Graduate Assistant in the Office of Student Disability services will serve as a paraprofessional and assist with administrative and office support work. This position will report directly to the Director of Student Disability Services and be responsible for short-term and long-term projects for the office and the students it serves. These projects include assisting with the coordination of accommodation plans for students with disabilities, overseeing a large student staff of student employees, and developing and executing projects for the betterment of the office and the students. The graduate assistants will help develop, coordinate, implement, and attend various multicultural and informational programs that showcase the diversity of cultures represented within the Marywood community, and around the world. The graduate students will assist in the creation of a Marywood Global content database for newsletters and other communications. This will include highlights of people within the Marywood community, programs and initiatives of the international and university wide events and happenings. The graduate assistants should be comfortable presenting, organizing, and planning events with members of the department. The candidate should be tech savvy with proficiency using google docs, spreadsheets, Excel, Microsoft Word, presentation software, database management systems, and knowledge of social media platforms. The graduate assistants will work towards furthering Marywood's mission of inclusive excellence and five core values.

        The ideal candidate will be someone who is a critical thinker, creative, well organized, has excellent communication skills, and can work both independently as well as within a team environment. Candidate should operate with the highest integrity as they will be working with sensitive student information, institutional data, and other confidential information. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Global Initiatives & Programs.
